New release EXERPT 2.0
The EXTESSY AG released the new version of the powerful exchange platform EXERPT 2.0. In close coordination with users, practical new features and improvements were implemented as well as new interfaces to other requirements management tools. 1. System Architecture
The focus of the new major release is a more efficient system architecture and an improved interface
which is especially designed for user requests.
The main features:
- New interface to CaliberRM 2005 / 2006
- New interface to IRQA 3.5 / 3.6
- Batch Mode (Command Line Interface)
- New process for OLE objects, images and formatted text
- Possibility to set preferences globally or per user
- MSI Setup: support for network installations
- Support of different RIF target formats
- Copy creation of modules within a database
- Compatibility to EXERPT 1.x
2. New GUI
The new wizard-driven user interface allows convenient configuration in a single mask.
The major improvements:
- wizard-driven, tool-independent operation
- summary page for configurations
- tool-independent diff view
- automatic drawing and posting of links
- simplified configuration
- online help

EXTESSY's EXERPT, the platform for exchange of requirements and test data, is available in Version 1.4!
Among the most important developments are:
1. Increased user friendliness
EXERPT 1.4 provides the possibility to work either in the advanced or in the new compact mode. To increase EXERPT's efficiency in everyday use, often used routine settings are restructured in the new compact GUI. It offers the opportunity to define standard-settings which leads to increased automation of tasks, even for complex exchange transactions. In addition, the new implemented link automation analyzes and sets link targets in the import and update automatically. Detailed settings can still be realized in the advanced mode.
2. Consistency checks
EXERPT 1.4 executes automatically extensive consistency checks to verify the validity of the data. This ensures that, e.g. all necessary values are set. Thereby, exchange operations can be realized more quickly and are less error-prone, even when working with complex documents.
3. Logging
Via complete revision of the classification and information content of error messages, handling is improved and investigation into causes or sources of error is simplified. In certain instances, EXERPT 1.4 proposes possible solutions. This makes work more comfortable and ensures a more controlled and consistent processes.

EXERPT: IRQA RIF adapter
Visure and EXTESSY decided to cooperate on the implementation of RIF for IRQA. IRQA and EXTESSY are happy to announce that EXTESSY will add to its open platform EXERPT, an IRQA adapter. Through this Cooperation Users of IRQA will soon be able to use the Requirements Interchange Format RIF. This eliminates further barriers in the development process – between tools and people. Collaboration of all parties involved in the development process is improved and information is synchronized.
EXERPT stands for EXTESSY Engineering Requirements PlaTform. EXTESSY developed this tool for seamless export, import and synchronization of data between requirements management, modelling and test tools. It is an open platform.
It is generally not possible to exchange documents and functional specifications between different software tools without any loss of data. As a consequence, the Hersteller Initiative Software (HIS) developed the Requirement Interchange Format (RIF). Integrated in EXERPT, this neutral format provides a framework that allows seamless exchange and synchronization of files in requirements management.
